Information for international visitors
Are you visiting ’s-Hertogenbosch and don’t speak Dutch? Please keep in mind that our regular activities are primarily guided in Dutch.
During the boat tour on the Binnendieze, an English-language brochure is available for international visitors with explanations of the main highlights along the way. For the City Walk, English, French, or German tours are also possible upon request.
Are you coming with a group and would you like to request an English-language tour or activity?
Then you can submit a group request. We’ll be happy to look into the possibilities for your group and the timing of your visit.
Discover ’s-Hertogenbosch with our volunteers
Stichting Vrienden van Den Bosch loves introducing visitors to the history, stories, and special places of our city. From the historic city center and St. John’s Cathedral to the unique Binnendieze: ’s-Hertogenbosch has so much beauty to discover.
Our activities are provided by enthusiastic volunteers. Many of them are retired locals who dedicate their free time to the city they love. With a wealth of knowledge, commitment, and joy, they share the heritage and stories of ’s-Hertogenbosch.
It’s exactly this personal touch that makes our activities special. You’ll discover the city together with people who know it well and love sharing their passion for Den Bosch with visitors.
Why are the regular activities in Dutch?
Because Stichting Vrienden van Den Bosch runs largely on volunteers, we unfortunately cannot offer our regular activities in multiple languages by default. Our guides and staff tell their stories primarily in Dutch, the language they feel most comfortable in.
International visitors are, of course, very welcome. We want to be clear about what you can expect beforehand, so you can choose an activity that fits your visit well.
Boat tour on the Binnendieze
The boat tour on the Binnendieze is a special experience for international visitors too. You’ll sail through and under the historic city center and see ’s-Hertogenbosch from a unique perspective.
The spoken commentary during the regular boat tour is in Dutch. For international visitors, an **English brochure** is available during the trip with a summary of the most important sights and stories. This way, you can follow the route and discover more about the Binnendieze, even if you can’t fully understand the Dutch explanation.
English-language activity for groups
Are you visiting ’s-Hertogenbosch with a group, such as family, friends, colleagues, or a travel party? Then you can request a tailor-made program and indicate that you’re interested in an English-language tour or activity.
Depending on your wishes, group size, visit date, and the availability of our volunteers, we will then look at the possibilities. Because our activities are provided by volunteers, we cannot always guarantee an English-language program. However, we’re happy to think along with you.
A warm welcome to Den Bosch
We hope for your understanding regarding the way our activities are organized. Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers, many visitors are able to get to know the unique character of ’s-Hertogenbosch every year.
Whether you’re sailing the Binnendieze, walking through the historic city center, or requesting a group program: we welcome you warmly and wish you a wonderful time in our city.
