Private evening boat tour

Experience the city in the twilight

As evening falls, the city takes on a special atmosphere. The last rays of sunshine filter between the houses, and in the soft twilight, the city’s hustle and bustle fades away… Boating in the evening feels completely different than during the day. And when you’re cruising with just your own group in a whisper boat, it’s extra special!

Boating with a private group

The skipper-guides from DagjeDenBosch.com will take your private group (maximum 14 people) on the Historical route over the Binnendieze, which takes you past the most beautiful spots in the old city center. The route starts at 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM from Molenstraat. As it slowly gets darker, you’ll see and hear about the remarkable history of our city.

History of the Binnendieze

The Binnendieze flows behind the houses. The current shape of the city, the street layout, and the narrow houses bordering the water at the back are truly unique! In the Middle Ages, Den Bosch was a thriving center of trade and art. Ships transported their goods along the narrow canals, and the iron and cloth industries used the water in their production processes. For the citizens, the Binnendieze provided not only drinking water but was also used as a sewer.

Den Bosch with an experienced skipper-guide

For a while, it looked like the entire Binnendieze would be filled in, but fortunately, the city center was designated a ‘protected cityscape’ in 1972. Because the water held significant cultural-historical value, the Binnendieze was restored step by step. In the twilight, the skipper-guide tells you fascinating stories about the restoration, the city’s history, and the origin of the nickname ‘the Marsh Dragon’.

Evening boat tour

During this boat tour, you’ll discover how quiet the city can be in the evening. After passing the Kruisbroedershekel, you sail out of the fortified city and onto the Singelgracht. Cruising along the city walls, you’ll be amazed by the abrupt transition between the city center and the Het Bossche Broek nature reserve. You re-enter the city through the Groote Hekel – a unique experience richer!
