Komt Dat Zien
A miraculous wagon play during the siege of Den Bosch in 1629
The creators of the Den Bosch theater hit ‘Broeders – De val van Den Bosch’ are back with a new story about the history of ‘s-Hertogenbosch: KOMT DAT ZIEN! A humorous, musical performance featuring a mobile theater wagon in the courtyard of the Citadel. With five actors who form their own orchestra.
The year is 1629. The Eighty Years’ War has been dragging on for generations. Amidst all the violence, Quintus Quirulinus travels around with his miraculous wagon play. He holds his world together with imaginative stories – for himself, but especially for the people around him. In this way, he and his troupe bring joy and hope to the people, and keep themselves alive.
Until one day, a messenger from Prince Frederick Henry orders them to travel to the besieged Den Bosch to create a propaganda performance. A hymn of praise to the States’ troops, who are so noble as to liberate Den Bosch from the clutches of the Spanish occupier.
Liberate? The same troops who murdered and plundered their way through the Meierij, the region around Den Bosch?
That assignment puts everything on edge. Quintus and Zus – the only woman on the wagon and their biggest crowd-puller – come into conflict.
Will they, as victims of the endless struggle, simply do what they are told? Or will they take off their masks and finally tell the true story of the war?
With their fold-out theater wagon as a backdrop, a conflict unfolds between different ideals, where the line between imagination and distortion becomes increasingly thin. Because how long can you rewrite reality before it turns against you?
