Nature boat tour on the Dommel and the Essche Stroom

Step aboard a whisper boat and sail from ’s-Hertogenbosch via the Dommel to the Essche Stroom and back again. During this special nature boat tour, you’ll discover the peaceful Dommel Valley, with plenty of attention to the landscape, animals, and unique spots along the water.

Together with a nature guide, you’ll sail past the Bossche Broek, Maurick Castle, and the pumping station at the Dommel. With a bit of luck, you might see kingfishers, herons, or even a beaver. Along the way, you’ll hear stories about nature, water management, and the history of this area.

This boat tour is offered at two special times: early in the morning and during the golden hour in the evening.

Drommels Early Boat Tour

For early birds, there’s a special morning tour on Sundays. Nature is at its most beautiful in the early morning, and there’s a good chance you’ll see animals that are less common during the day. You depart at 6:30 AM from the jetty behind Valk Castle and sail peacefully through the Dommel Valley to the Essche Stroom and back.

Golden Hour Boat Tour

Prefer later in the day? Then there’s the evening tour during the golden hour. On Friday evenings in April, May, and June, you depart at 7:30 PM for the same route over the Dommel and the Essche Stroom. The warm evening light, the silence on the water, and the guide’s stories make this tour extra atmospheric.
